About GCD & LCM
Greatest Common Divisor (GCD):
- • Largest positive integer that divides all numbers
- • Also called Greatest Common Factor (GCF)
- • Used for simplifying fractions
- • If GCD = 1, numbers are coprime
Least Common Multiple (LCM):
- • Smallest positive integer divisible by all numbers
- • Used for adding/subtracting fractions
- • LCM(a,b) × GCD(a,b) = a × b (for two numbers)
- • Always ≥ the largest input number
