About GCD & LCM

Greatest Common Divisor (GCD):

  • • Largest positive integer that divides all numbers
  • • Also called Greatest Common Factor (GCF)
  • • Used for simplifying fractions
  • • If GCD = 1, numbers are coprime

Least Common Multiple (LCM):

  • • Smallest positive integer divisible by all numbers
  • • Used for adding/subtracting fractions
  • • LCM(a,b) × GCD(a,b) = a × b (for two numbers)
  • • Always the largest input number
